Sacred Mother Retreat
with Serena Crawford & Prema Paxton
BALI, INDONESIA • SEPTEMBER 20-26, 2026
a refuge for bereaved Mothers offered by bereaved Mothers
We offer this gathering for mothers who have lost their children due to sudden, traumatic loss, including substance-use-disorder (SUD) overdose, fentanyl poisoning, or suicide.
Emerging from the depths of our own experiences with grief, we offer this retreat as a space of nourishment—as an invitation to experience new possibilities of being present with your broken-open heart.
We will work within themes of loss and what it means to live life with and without our beloved children. We will honor and celebrate the lives of our children. Your presence will also be a most welcome contribution within our collective care. Adding your presence as witness and sharer of your unique experience is a precious gift in our community of bereaved moms. Together we will co-create refuge for our individual and collective grief.
Being in Bali
Our home base is located outside the hustle and bustle of Ubud—in an area of small villages, rice fields, waterfalls, rivers, and stunning temples.
Two sacred volcanos—Agung and Batur—will fill our horizon and are easily seen on clear cloudless days. They are culturally significant and deeply important to the spirituality of the Balinese and embedded within the daily rhythms of life on the island.
Our long-time friends in Bali know the purpose of our gathering, and their expertise and care will support our experiences during our retreat.
We’ll be staying in spacious villas, each one designed for comfort, beauty, and a deep connection with nature. From your bedroom or private terrace, you can take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding jungle or valley.
In addition to your lovely accommodation, there will be plenty of delicious and nourishing food, with luxury spa services available to you onsite.
There will be a sweet balance of group time and plenty of free time, whether you choose relaxation or adventure.
Prema and Serena will provide a variety of daily embodied practices including yoga, meditation, breathwork, song, contemplation, sharing circles and an opportunity to experience the incomparable beauty of Bali and its incredible culture.
An Invitation to Connect
If you feel drawn to the retreat but are unsure if it is the right time, you are warmly welcome to reach out.
The first year after loss is especially tender, and because of this, this retreat is generally recommended after the first year. If you are close to the one-year mark and feel called to join us, Prema and Serena would be happy to have a compassionate conversation with you about what feels most loving and supportive for your heart right now.

Travel Insurance —highly recommended
Nobody books a retreat with the intention of canceling it, but unexpected events do occur, so please consider purchasing travel insurance. As you consider what degree of coverage to purchase, please keep in mind our policy for cancellations and refunds, which you can read here.
Our clients frequently choose to purchase coverage for their flights, for medical emergencies, and for the cost of their retreat investment. While we do not endorse any travel insurance company, our clients have often purchased their policies with Allianz or World Nomads, just two of the many providers.
Required Travel Documents
Participants are responsible for procuring required travel documents. As of January 2026, U.S. Citizens need a passport that is valid for 6 months after arrival in Bali. Tourist visas are purchased at the airport and cost around $35
