what’s not included

  • Flight to/from Bali

    • Denpasar International Airport (DPS) is the airport you’ll fly in and out of.

    • We’ll provide more tips for flights after you book, but keep in mind that with the time change, you’ll need to leave the U.S. one or two days before the start of the trip. The time change also makes travel home feel like a time warp, as you will likely leave Bali and technically return hom on the same date.

    • While there are many routes you can take, we have come to prefer traveling from North Carolina through Atlanta and Seoul (ICN). For this option, Delta or Korean Air offer ideal schedules, with most itineraries arriving in Bali late at night. That late-evening arrival also happens to be an ideal time for avoiding busy day-time traffic on Bali’s single-lane roads.

  • Optional Excursions & Optional Transportation

    • Activities of your own choosing (e.g. hikes, shopping, spa services). We'll offer several suggestions.

  • 5 lunches & 5 dinners

    • Our resort restaurants have many delicious options. There are also many excellent restaurants close by where we’re staying and visiting.

  • Beer, Wine & Spirits

  • Tips & Gratuities—at your discretion

  • Travel Insurance—highly recommended

    • Nobody books a retreat with the intention of canceling it, but unexpected events do occur, so please consider purchasing travel insurance. As you consider what degree of coverage to purchase, please keep in mind our policy for cancellations and refunds, which you can read here.

    • Our clients frequently purchase coverage for their flights, for medical emergencies, and for the cost of their retreat investment.  While we do not endorse any travel insurance company, Allianz or World Nomads are two of the common providers our clients choose.

  • Required Travel Documents

    • Participants are responsible for procuring required travel documents. As of April 2026, citizens of the United States need a passport that is valid for 6 months after arrival in Bali, a tourist visa that can be purchased online (e-visa) or at Denpasar International Airport for about $35, and a no-cost Arrival Card.
